As more and more people are going to review sites, like Yelp, Urban Spoon, Trip Advisor or even just Googling why not get more positive reviews?
Here are 4 quick tips that get the well going!
1. Be worthy of a positive review. Seriously, it takes much much much muchhhh more work to get a positive review than a negative one.
One example I had was at a local salad fast food place downtown in Edmonton, it had slow service, bad customer service and messed up all our company orders.
They got a negative review on as many platforms as possible from me. It took me about the same time to write the reviews as to get my order right.
The exact reverse happened with a Kal Tire on the South side of Edmonton. They were a life saver and did an exceptional job for me. They only got 1 review from me and it was on Facebook.
2.Save your Customer time: Back to my example of the Kal Tire, if they had a comment card right on the front desk I would have filled it out. Same thing on your online site. Do you have a comment area? Ask even for verbal reviews, and post them (just make sure they're real!)
3.Write your own: This is the bad one. It's so obvious when a company is writing their own. It's cheesy , unprofessional and just ugly
4.Bribing your customers: Same as writing your own. To create raving fans ASK your customers to give you reviews or testimonials, but bribing them makes them feel that they are losing out if they don't. So, no discounts, no special perks, no bonus of any kind. Your customers should be doing their testimonials with no pressure either way. If you type in ReachLocal testimonials you'll see what I'm talking about. Our customers are asked with no incentives to provide video testimonials, and it is definitely worth it to get them.
